There are some tests that should be done on every home to make them safer and be more energy efficient. The most important one is a combustion safety test. This test should be done before and after anything is done to the home, like change a door or window or changing a furnace. This test will make sure carbon monoxide will not be trapped in a house.
A blower door test will give you some idea how a home will perform and will identify problem areas such as missing insulation or holes in your home that will cost you money due to heat loss. A duct leakage test will tell you if your heating ducts are leaking your heat to the outside of your home and if the heat is getting where it is supposed to be.
We are certified by Building Performance Institute as a Building Envelope professional, which means we do these tests and can make recommendations based on the results to improve the safety, comfort and energy efficiency of your home.
